Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed he is the first governor in Nigeria’s history to complete two terms in office without owning a personal house.
The former Osun State governor said he spent his eight years in office living in a friend’s apartment in Ilesa, his hometown, rather than in a house of his own.
Speaking at a political gathering, Aregbesola challenged anyone who doubted his claim to provide evidence to the contrary.
“I am the only governor in the whole for Nigeria who ruled his state for 8years without having a house of my own. I lived in my friend apartment in my father’s town at Ilesha for 8years. I challenge anyone who may not agree with me to come out open with evidence.”
Aregbesola served as governor of Osun State from 2010 to 2018 before he was appointed Minister of Interior by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
