Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has opened up about one of the most meaningful things he has ever done for his wife, revealing that he once gave her the largest cheque he had ever earned.

The 65-year-old made the revelation during an interview on the Morayo Show, where he spoke about love, marriage and how his idea of romance has changed over the years.

According to RMD, after receiving a cheque worth N100 million, he decided to hand it over to his wife without thinking twice.

“The first time I had the biggest cheque I’ve ever had in my life, I had like a 100m cheque. So I said, ‘Give it to my wife.’ When she got it, she said, ‘You want me to keep it for your children?’ So I said, ‘No, keep it for yourself.’”

The actor described himself as someone who still believes in romance, although he joked that many women today would rather receive money than flowers or chocolates.

Speaking about turning 65, RMD said he is grateful for every new year because both of his parents passed away before reaching the age of 60.

“I feel like I’m living in extra time right now. My parents didn’t make 60. My life is one of gratitude. I’m happy to be alive,” he said.

He added that living a healthy lifestyle and keeping a positive mindset have helped him stay energetic and youthful despite his age.
