Jude Okoye has dismissed the allegations levelled against him by his younger brother, Peter Okoye, insisting that he neither diverted royalties nor engaged in any financial wrongdoing.
In a video titled “Debunking the Lies,” Jude stated that the claims raised by Peter had already been examined during investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and are now part of an ongoing court case.
Addressing the allegation that he and Paul Okoye diverted about $25,000 in royalties, Jude said the payment followed Peter’s earlier instructions and was handled properly, stressing that there was nothing unusual about the transaction.
To support his claim, Jude presented an email from digital distributor Iroko, which he said showed Peter requested that his own share of the royalties be paid directly to him, while the balance belonging to Jude and Paul was paid into the Northside Entertainment account.
He also rejected Peter’s claim that he had been removed as a signatory to the company’s bank accounts. According to Jude, official bank mandate documents, which he displayed, confirmed that Peter remained a signatory on all P-Square accounts. He added that the same documents had already been presented before the court.
Responding to Peter’s allegation that it took more than three months to hand over access to P-Square’s music catalogue backend, Jude said the request was made in October 2022 and fulfilled within six days. He further claimed that download records showed the files were accessed on the very day they were sent.
Jude also disputed Peter’s assertion that he only recently started receiving royalty payments in US dollars. Referring to what he described as historical payment records, he maintained that Peter had been receiving dollar-denominated royalties since 2012.
On the claim that more than $1.2 million in royalties had been diverted, Jude insisted the figures being circulated were incorrect, adding that all royalty payments were properly accounted for and distributed according to existing agreements.
Concluding his remarks, Jude criticised Peter for discussing the matter publicly while the case remains before the court. He said he would not comment further on issues under judicial consideration beyond refuting what he described as false allegations.
"You are trying to bait me… You know the court is not going to your favour. Why are you dodging to make appearance in court? For three good sitting snow, you dey dodge court. They've frozen my account for over two years. For over two years, I can't travel."
