Brazilian football star Neymar Jr has dismissed suggestions that he could reverse his decision to retire from international football after his father hinted that a return to the national team was still possible.

Neymar, 34, brought an end to his Brazil career last month after representing the Selecao at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking his first appearance for the national side in nearly three years.

The veteran forward came off the bench during Brazil’s 3-0 win over Scotland in the group stage before featuring in the second half of the team’s 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 16. He scored Brazil’s only goal from the penalty spot late in the match, but it was not enough to prevent elimination.

After the tournament, Neymar confirmed that he was stepping away from international football.

His father, however, later suggested that the possibility of a future return should not be ruled out.

“I can’t guarantee that he’s 100% done with the Selecao. Maybe he can come back.”

Responding to the remarks, Neymar made it clear that the decision rests with him alone, saying:

“It’s not my dad playing!”
