Fatima Zaunbrecher, the mother of footballer Michael Olise’s daughter, has explained why she waited before publicly speaking about their relationship and his alleged involvement in their child’s life.
In a series of videos posted on her Instagram page on Monday, August 3, the 34-year-old said she chose to remain silent for a long time because she believed the Bayern Munich and France winger would eventually step up to his responsibilities as a father without the matter becoming public.
According to Zahra, she had known and respected Olise for years and wanted to resolve the issue privately rather than through social media.
“I gave him a chance and I didn’t come out way back then because I wanted him to realize that his daughter needs him,” she said.
She also revealed that she intentionally avoided discussing the matter during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying she did not want the controversy to distract the footballer while he was representing France at the tournament.
“I also protected him while the World Cup was going on. I didn’t speak on it that much because I didn’t want it to affect his football.”
Zahra added that her goal from the beginning was to avoid turning the situation into what she described as a “nasty or messy” public dispute.
