Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15 governorship election, accusing him of focusing more on dancing than governance.
Speaking at an APC campaign rally attended by the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and supporters, Okpebholo repeatedly mocked Adeleke’s well-known dance moves, claiming the governor spends more time dancing than addressing the state’s challenges.
He urged residents to vote for the APC, saying Oyebamiji would prioritise development, quality roads and improved infrastructure if elected.
Okpebholo also advised voters to accept any money offered during campaigns but vote according to their conscience, insisting that Adeleke should be voted out of office.
Drawing parallels with the last Edo governorship election, he referenced the defeat of former Governor Godwin Obaseki’s political camp, saying Adeleke, whom he described as Obaseki’s ally, should face a similar fate.
He said:
“Before somebody sign paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he take breakfast. Before he drink tea, he will dance.
“If they bring money, chop that money from them, but don’t vote for them… That man is Obasaki’s friend. You know we kick Obasaki out of Edo too? So we have to kick his friend out of this place too.
“A government that is not working, the best gift for him is to send him out of that state… Are you not tired of dancing, dancing, dancing, governor?
“The man that will give you a good road is Oyebamiji. Are we ready to make a change? Are we ready to say bye-bye to dancing?”
"Is Osun State not tired of having a dancing governor? Before he signs paper, he will dance, For 4 years he has been dancing. He's Obaseki's friend. We have to kick him out the way we kicked Obaseki out of Edo" – Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo sl@ms Governor Ademola Adeleke pic.twitter.com/eoyRojYd2C
