The city of Kano was thrown into mourning on Thursday after a woman who had just delivered quintuplets at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital died on Wednesday night, hours after giving birth.
Medical sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the mother’s condition deteriorated rapidly following the delivery, despite efforts by hospital staff to stabilize her.
The quintuplets are reportedly receiving intensive care at the hospital, though their exact condition has not been made public. Hospital authorities have yet to issue a detailed statement regarding the circumstances of her death.
Family members and relatives were seen grieving at the hospital as news of her passing spread late Wednesday night. Officials say more information will be provided as investigations and medical reviews continue.
