Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly planning a surprise return to the Etihad Stadium in a show of support for his former club.
According to the UK Mirror, Guardiola is expected to attend Manchester City’s next home fixture against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on October 14.
The report said Guardiola has informed senior officials at the club that he would like to “be with his people” amid the club’s ongoing legal battle over alleged financial breaches.
The planned appearance comes shortly after an independent commission found Manchester City guilty of all charges relating to breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations between 2009 and 2018.
City have continued to deny the allegations and lodged an appeal against the verdict on Friday.
Guardiola left Manchester City in the summer after a decade in charge, during which he won 20 trophies with the club.
The Spanish manager was also in charge throughout the four-year investigation into the club’s financial records.
His reported return to the Etihad would mark his first appearance at the stadium since leaving his managerial position at the end of last season.
