Former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Jumoke Akinjide, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), bringing to an end more than 20 years of affiliation with the party.

In a letter dated March 30, 2026, Akinjide confirmed that her resignation takes effect immediately. She said the decision followed a period of personal reflection and expressed appreciation for the opportunities and experiences the PDP provided throughout her political career.

“I hereby formally give you notice of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately. This decision was not taken lightly, given that I have been a member since 2001.

After a long period of personal reflection, I am grateful for the experiences and relationships built during my time in the party. I also appreciate the platform it provided for political engagement and wish the party continued success in the future,” she stated.
