President Donald Trump of the United States has warned that any country supplying weapons to Iran will face a 50 percent tariff on all goods exported to the US, with no exemptions.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social on Wednesday, following a ceasefire agreement reached between the US and Iran the previous night.
“A country supplying military weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions!” he wrote.
He also stated that Iran will be prevented from enriching uranium, adding that the US will work with Iran to “dig up and remove” nuclear material reportedly buried following US strikes last year.
“The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive Regime Change!” Trump posted, referring to efforts to manage Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
He further explained: “There will be no enrichment of Uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear ‘Dust,’” referencing the aftermath of US operations against Iranian nuclear sites.
The announcement comes after Trump softened his earlier threats of heavy strikes on Iran, a country he has repeatedly accused of pursuing nuclear weapons.
