Nollywood actress Moyo Lawal has reacted to claims that she ordered the arrest of an online critic following a manipulated image of her that sparked controversy on social media.

The drama began days ago after Moyo addressed ongoing bullying about her skin tone and allegations of bleaching. In response, she shared AI-generated images of herself with a darker complexion, questioning why people were so focused on attacking her appearance and pointing out what she described as double standards in public perception.

The situation escalated after a Twitter user known as ScoobyDoe mocked the post and used it to caution others online. He later alleged in another post that he had been arrested and detained at Area F Police Station in Ikeja, claiming he spent over a week in custody before being released after his lawyer intervened. According to him, what started as online “banter” with the actress led to police involvement.

Moyo Lawal, however, has firmly denied any involvement in the arrest, insisting she did not report or target the critic over his comments. She maintained that she would not abuse authority over online opinions and dismissed the circulating narrative as false.

She also addressed the claims directly, saying: “If she were to arrest someone, the public would know who she would arrest.”

She further noted that there is often a false narrative built around her online and urged critics to stop spreading misinformation, simply asking to be left alone.

Moyo stressed that the situation has been exaggerated and reiterated that she is not involved in any form of intimidation or harassment.
