The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has stirred reactions after telling House of Representatives member Leke Abejide to remain in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and continue causing internal disruption within the party.
Gbajabiamila made the comments during a birthday celebration organised in honour of Abejide, where he also praised the lawmaker for what he described as his positive impact on the All Progressives Congress (APC).
While speaking in a playful tone, he advised Abejide to ignore ongoing efforts by some APC figures, including former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello, who have been encouraging him to defect to the ruling party.
He said Abejide should instead remain in the opposition and continue his political battles there.
According to him:
“Don’t come to APC. Stay in ADC and scatter them. We like what you’re doing. Don’t mind former governor Yahaya Bello, who said you should join APC.
No, no, no, stay in ADC and win your election. Also, bring Bala Gombe, and we’ll support him. Good luck in court.”
