Leaders of opposition parties across Nigeria have gathered in Ibadan, Oyo State, for a national summit aimed at strengthening collaboration and promoting democratic stability.
The meeting, taking place this Saturday at the Banquet Hall of the Oyo State Government, is focused on the theme “That We May Work Together for a United Opposition to Sustain Our Democracy.”
Among the notable figures in attendance are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi; former Senate President David Mark; ex-Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso; and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, alongside other key stakeholders.
Political parties represented at the summit include the People’s Redemption Party, Labour Party, Accord Party, All Progressives Movement, Youth Party, and Action Democratic Party, with each expected to outline its position during the discussions.
The programme also features presentations from experts, including Chidi Odinkalu, Mike Igini, and Kabir Adamu, who are speaking on the importance of unity among opposition forces and the role of strong democratic institutions in sustaining governance.
