Manchester United produced a thrilling late comeback to edge arch-rivals Liverpool 3–2 in a pulsating Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
United made a flying start, with Matheus Cunha opening the scoring in the 6th minute after a fine strike from distance. Benjamin Sesko then doubled the lead in the 14th minute, reacting quickest in a crowded box to finish off a goalmouth scramble.
Liverpool regrouped after the break and came out firing. Dominik Szoboszlai reduced the deficit just two minutes into the second half with a brilliant solo run, before turning provider in the 56th minute as he set up Cody Gakpo for the equaliser, bringing the game level at 2–2.
With the momentum shifting towards the visitors, United found another gear in the final stages. Kobbie Mainoo restored the lead in the 77th minute with a composed low drive from the edge of the box that beat the goalkeeper into the bottom corner.
Liverpool pushed hard in the closing minutes, with chances falling to Federico Chiesa and Gakpo, but United held their ground under pressure. Diogo Dalot also missed a late opportunity to seal it, though it did not affect the outcome.
At full-time, United secured a vital 3–2 victory in front of 74,027 fans, a result that boosts their Premier League campaign, while Liverpool were left to reflect on missed chances in a tightly contested encounter.
