A video circulating online shows a woman claiming that her 18-year-old brother was arrested over a viral social media post alleging that billionaire businessman Tony Elumelu had divorced his wife, Dr Awele Elumelu.

In the video, the woman identified as Ngozi Akunemeihe alleged that her brother, Kingsley Akunemeihe, who is also a UTME candidate, was picked up by police on April 18 while returning home from his JAMB examination.

She said the arrest was linked to a post he reshared online, which contained claims about the businessman’s marriage.

According to her, Kingsley did not create the original post but only reposted it from another account on X before it was flagged as false and defamatory.

She further stated that once he was informed of the issue, he deleted the post and issued an apology on his account.

“He said he got it from another person’s handle and shared it with others. After he was told it was fake and defamatory, he deleted it and apologised,” she said.

Ngozi also claimed that despite the apology, her brother was arrested several days later and has since been held at the State Criminal Investigation Department for over a week.

“He has been detained for over a week now. I am begging you, sir, please forgive him. He is just 18,” she said.

She appealed for his release, stressing that he had shown remorse and was still very young, urging the complainant to withdraw the case so he could return home.
