Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has once again spoken about his heated confrontation with former Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha during the 2014 burial ceremony of his father, the late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa.
In an interview on The BTC Podcast, Charly Boy revisited the incident, explaining why he interrupted Okorocha’s speech at the event, insisting the former governor was allegedly attempting to politicise a solemn family burial.
He maintained that his reaction was justified, stressing that he saw the occasion as strictly a moment of respect for his late father, not a political gathering.
“Mmhmm. Is that a crime? I for don slap am. He wanted to use my father’s burial as a campaign for politics. And you don’t do that. Not when I’m around,” he said.
He also claimed he ordered Okorocha to leave the venue, adding that the environment was under his control and should not have been used for political messaging.
“And he knew he was in my territory. Even with all his bodyguards, na my territory him dey,” he added.
