Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has been officially cleared by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest in the party’s primary election for the Kogi Central Senatorial District, ending rumours that he was yet to be screened.

The APC confirmed Bello’s clearance alongside two other aspirants from Kogi Central and 14 contenders from Kogi West and Kogi East ahead of the primary election scheduled for Monday.

Among those set to battle Bello for the party’s ticket are APC Diaspora Secretary, Momoh Obaro, and Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke.

Party stakeholders in Kogi Central described Bello’s clearance as a major development ahead of the primary, which is already generating intense political interest across the state due to the former governor’s influence and the profile of the aspirants involved.

Political observers say Bello’s entry into the race has further stirred activities within the district, with supporters and party loyalists already mobilising ahead of the exercise.
