The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has arrested a man who was allegedly discovered hiding inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag at the home of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.
The incident was confirmed by the board’s Director of Sharia, Sirajo Kamba, in a statement released on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, residents in the neighbourhood reportedly alerted Hisbah officials around 12:15 a.m. on Monday, May 18, after noticing a suspicious man entering the woman’s residence.
The residents believed the situation could involve conduct against Islamic teachings and decided to report the matter to authorities.
Kamba explained that officers were immediately sent to the house for investigation. However, when they arrived and requested to search the premises, the woman allegedly denied that anyone else was inside the building.
He said she later allowed the search, during which the suspect was reportedly found hiding inside a large “Ghana Must-Go” bag.
The Hisbah official added that preliminary findings pointed to an alleged romantic affair between the pair.
According to Kamba, both the man and the married woman allegedly admitted to the claims during questioning and are expected to be charged in court under Islamic law.
