African artistes have secured impressive recognition at the 2026 BET Awards, with several stars from the continent earning nominations across major categories.
Tems emerged as the top African nominee after receiving three nominations. The Nigerian star was recognised in the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category, BET Her for her song “First,” and Viewers’ Choice for “Raindance” alongside Dave.
South African hitmaker Tyla earned two nominations thanks to her song “Chanel,” which was shortlisted for both Video of the Year and Viewers’ Choice.
Nigerian music stars Wizkid and Asake both secured nominations in the Best Group category for their collaboration.
Also making the list was Burna Boy, who received a nomination in the Best Collaboration category for “wgft” with Gunna.
The nominations once again underline the increasing global influence of African music as artistes from the continent continue to dominate conversations on major international award platforms.
