Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim, have been sworn in for a second term, officially marking the start of their new tenure.

The ceremony took place on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, attracting top dignitaries including Vice President Kashim Shettima and former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

Soludo, representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), won re-election in the state’s November 8, 2025 off-cycle governorship election. He and his deputy were administered the oaths of office by the Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, at about 11:05 a.m.

Both leaders were accompanied by their wives and family members during the swearing-in.

The inauguration events began on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with an interdenominational service at the International Convention Centre, which marked the end of Soludo’s first term and included prayers for a successful second tenure.
