Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté is reportedly on his way out of the club this summer after contract renewal talks failed to reach a breakthrough, according to reports from Sky Sports.
The French centre-back is now expected to leave Anfield as a free agent, ending his five-year spell with the Reds. Konaté arrived from RB Leipzig in 2021 and went on to establish himself as a key figure in Liverpool’s defence under both Jürgen Klopp and Arne Slot.
Since joining the club, the defender has featured 181 times in all competitions, playing a major role in Liverpool’s domestic and European campaigns while building a strong partnership at the back with Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool were reportedly eager to keep Konaté at the club, but negotiations with his representatives failed to produce an agreement over a new deal after months of discussions.
His anticipated departure now leaves Liverpool with a major defensive gap to address ahead of the new season, with the club expected to enter the transfer market for another top-quality centre-back.
