President Bola Tinubu has reflected on the struggles he endured before emerging as Nigeria’s President, saying the journey tested both him and those who stood by his side.

Tinubu spoke on Friday while receiving members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, during a Sallah visit to his Lagos residence.

The President expressed appreciation to governors who supported his ambition from the beginning, commending them for remaining steadfast despite the challenges encountered along the way.

According to him, the quest for the nation’s highest office was far from easy, but he remained determined to see it through and accepted the sacrifices that came with it.

“Instead of dodging the bullet, I took it. I took a punch in the chin, a very hard one.

“We stuck together the time I faced the challenge of trying to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“It was very challenging. It was tough for those who were with me. Some kept faith.

“I decided to take the effort to campaign. I didn’t disclose to anybody what I would do. Many of you took the risk and went ahead with me because of the party platform and everything,” he said.
