The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a security operation carried out on Saturday.
The victims were freed alive after police operatives engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun battle during the rescue mission.
According to reports, two members of the kidnapping gang were killed in the exchange of fire, while security personnel recovered two firearms from the suspects.
Mrs John-Paul and her children were abducted on June 3, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m. while she was reportedly taking the boys to school.
Channels Television reported that intelligence gathering and sustained tactical operations by security agencies put pressure on the kidnappers, eventually forcing a confrontation that led to the victims’ rescue.
Sources also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the gang who fled the scene. Some of the escaping suspects are believed to have sustained gunshot injuries during the operation.
