Nigeria’s 12-match unbeaten run came to an end on Wednesday as Nigeria national football team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Portugal national football team in an international friendly.

The game was tightly contested for long periods, with both sides struggling to find a breakthrough until the 74th minute when Pedro Neto put Portugal ahead.

Nigeria responded quickly and restored parity in the 82nd minute through Akor Adams, who finished calmly from close range after being set up by Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

Just as the match looked set to end level, Portugal struck again. Francisco Conceição produced a decisive moment, beating Zaidu Sanusi before curling a left-footed effort from the edge of the box into the far corner to make it 2-1.

The Super Eagles pushed in the closing minutes in search of another equaliser, but Portugal held their shape and saw out the result.

The defeat ended Nigeria’s impressive 12-game unbeaten streak across both competitive and friendly fixtures.
