Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella this summer as new manager Jose Mourinho continues to reshape the squad.
The Spanish champions are said to have moved decisively for the left-back after Mourinho identified him as a key addition to strengthen his defence ahead of the new season.
Cucurella is expected to become the latest arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu following the additions of Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries, as Madrid push ahead with an ambitious rebuilding project under the Portuguese coach.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano announced the development on X on Sunday.
“EXCLUSIVE: Real Madrid reach verbal agreement to sign Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, HERE WE GO!
“Verbal agreement in place between all parties, player too — he’s the left back wanted by Mourinho. Details to follow.
“Cucurella leaves #CFC and joins Madrid after World Cup.”
The move will bring an end to Cucurella’s spell at Chelsea, with the Spanish international now set to begin a new chapter in his career at Real Madrid once the World Cup concludes.
