Media personality Daddy Freeze has come to Peller’s defence following rapper YCee’s “Olodo Uprising” remarks, arguing that the TikTok star should not be blamed for the country’s failing value system.

Sharing his thoughts on the controversy, Daddy Freeze admitted that Nigeria is facing a growing anti-intellectual culture but maintained that Peller merely benefited from a system that no longer rewards education as it should.

“We have an olodo culture, but it’s unfair to put the blame on Peller. It’s not fair putting fault on an intelligent man like Peller, who took advantage of a broken system.”

He further pointed to the poor remuneration of academics as evidence that education has lost its appeal as a pathway to success.

“I know a friend who is a professor and earns 700k a month. This is one factor that destroyed the value system. Education was not a means to reach a goal.”

According to Daddy Freeze, the imbalance in how society rewards different achievements has contributed to the problem, noting the contrast between reality TV prize money and academic recognition.

“This is also why BBNaija winner earns N100m and best graduating student gets 10,000 naira.”
