Media personality Toke Makinwa has shared relationship advice with women, urging them to choose partners who value love, communication and the success of the relationship above personal pride.
In a post shared on social media, she said a man’s behaviour after a disagreement often reveals the kind of partner he truly is, stressing that genuine love is reflected in empathy, humility and a willingness to reconcile.
She wrote:
“Marry the man who calls you after an argument just to make sure you’re okay. Not the one who leaves you alone with your tears. Choose the man who stays when things get hard and wants to understand you, not defeat you. A man who can pause, hold you, and say ‘I’m sorry’ because your relationship matters more to him than his ego.”
Makinwa added that humility is one of the strongest qualities a person can possess, noting that someone who can sincerely apologise understands that preserving a relationship is more important than winning an argument.
She concluded by saying lasting relationships are not defined by the absence of conflict but by the commitment of both partners to choose each other, even after their most difficult moments together.
