Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has named actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo as his spokesperson ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), confirmed his appointment in a statement shared on his official X account on Thursday.
Expressing gratitude, he thanked Atiku for entrusting him with the role and pledged to justify the confidence placed in him.
“I give God all the glory for being appointed by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar as his spokesperson. I thank His Excellency for the immense confidence reposed in me,” he said.
Okonkwo also praised Atiku’s leadership approach, describing him as a leader who embraces dialogue and seeks common ground instead of reacting negatively when associates raise concerns.
“Rather than take offence at associates for expressing genuine reservations about any action taken, His Excellency always opts for dialogue and compromise that engender solutions to problems,” Okonkwo stated.
