President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held a high-level security meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with the country’s military chiefs, intelligence heads and top security advisers to assess the nation’s security situation.
According to officials familiar with the meeting, the discussions focused on reviewing security operations across the country and developments in various theatres of operation.
The closed-door meeting, which lasted more than two hours, was attended by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru; Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Undiandeye; Inspector-General of Police, Olatunde Disu; Director-General of the Department of State Services, Adeola Ajayi; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed; and the President’s Special Adviser on Homeland Security, Major General Adeyinka Famadewa (retd.), among other security officials.
The meeting came days after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, backed by the Air Component of the Joint Task Force (North West), foiled what the military described as a major planned terrorist attack in Zamfara and Katsina states.
