Martial arts legend and actor Chuck Norris has died at the age of 86, his family confirmed. He passed away Thursday morning in Hawaii, surrounded by loved ones.

In a statement, his family said, “It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday [Thursday] morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace. He lived life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved.”

Norris became a global icon through his martial arts films in the 1980s, including The Delta Force and Missing in Action, and later gained fame for his role as Texas Ranger Cordell Walker in the CBS series Walker, Texas Ranger during the 1990s.

Although he had largely stepped away from acting in recent years, Norris made occasional appearances, such as a cameo in The Expendables 2, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most enduring action stars of his generation.
