Nigerian singer Asa is mourning the loss of her mother, who passed away unexpectedly after a sudden brain tumor.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Asa paid a heartfelt tribute to the woman she described as her inspiration and biggest supporter.
“My mother, my reason to be, my queen, my everything. A sudden brain tumor came without warning and took you too soon,” she wrote.
She remembered her mother as a kind, generous, and humorous soul, noting the unique personality that had always been a source of strength for her.
“You were generous. The kindest soul. You had your own quiet swag, you were extremely shy, and so funny. My biggest fan.”
Reflecting on her mother’s support for her music, Asa added, “You couldn’t hold a note to save your life, but you sang every one of my songs with your whole heart.”
Concluding her tribute, the singer vowed to carry her mother’s love and spirit with her forever.
“Your strength, your love, your spirit will remain with me forever. Rest now, Mum.”
