The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, is increasingly seen as stepping away from the Oyo State governorship race after failing to meet the March 30, 2026 resignation deadline set by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Rumours gained traction on social media following the circulation of a supposed resignation letter, but his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, dismissed it as false, insisting the minister has not left office.

According to Tunji, Adelabu remains fully engaged in his duties and continues to serve in line with the president’s directive.

The minister had, over the past year, held several consultations regarding a possible governorship bid under the All Progressives Congress, but has yet to make any formal declaration.

When questioned recently in Abuja about his political ambition and whether he planned to resign, Adelabu avoided giving a direct answer.

“I am fully focused on my job as the Minister of Power,” he said.
