Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa (retd.), has directed Nigerian troops to intensify operations against Boko Haram, insisting that they eliminate insurgents wherever they are encountered.
Addressing soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State, alongside the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, Musa stressed that troops must act decisively on the battlefield and not hesitate when confronting terrorists.
“Look for Boko Haram and kill them. Is that clear? You don’t have to wait for anybody. Any Boko Haram member you find, it is your duty, wherever you are deployed, to take them down,” he stated on Tuesday.
He warned that the era of waiting for orders is over, declaring that excuses for inaction would no longer be tolerated. “I don’t want to hear anyone saying they were waiting for instructions,” Musa added.
The minister also reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to equipping and supporting the military with the intelligence and resources needed to defeat insurgents.
His directive comes as troops continue operations in the North-East, targeting insurgent strongholds to restore stability and security in the region.
