Nollywood star Lilian Afegbai has taken a swipe at the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards after being excluded from the 2026 nominations.
The nominees list for the 12th edition was recently unveiled, with her colleague Bimbo Akintola earning a Best Lead Actress nomination for her role in To Kill A Monkey.
Reacting to the development, Afegbai questioned the decision to leave her out, arguing that her character, Idia, was one of the most talked-about in the series and resonated widely with viewers.
She further downplayed the importance of awards recognition, stating that she does not rely on nominations for validation and dismissing the organisers’ decision.
“AMVCA smh. I always choose to believe everything happens for a reason.
“I don’t need a nomination for validation. The truth is clear: Nobody trended like Idia from TKAM last year. Her acting was 100. You guys can eat your award.”
