The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 30 individuals suspected of internet fraud during a sting operation at two buildings in Agbede Community, Ilorin, Kwara State.
According to the EFCC’s official X handle, six of those apprehended are students of Kwara State Polytechnic, all of whom were found to be actively involved in online fraud activities. Authorities also recovered eight vehicles believed to be proceeds of crime, along with laptops and mobile phones.
The Commission clarified that the operation was entirely separate from the Polytechnic. No entry was made into the school premises, and its activities were not disrupted. EFCC warned that videos linking student protests to the operation are false and misrepresent the facts.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, the EFCC said all reporting channels for unethical conduct by its staff remain open and pledged to continue operations in the broader interest of Nigerians.
