Nasiru Gawuna, the 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The former deputy governor of Kano State received his ADC membership card on Tuesday at his Gawuna Ward in Nasarawa Local Government Area, marking the formal completion of his registration with the party.
The event was attended by senior political figures, including former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, immediate past deputy governor Aminu Gwarzo, and ADC state chairman Musa Ungogo, along with thousands of party supporters.
Speaking after the registration, Gawuna thanked his supporters and party leaders, pledging to work toward strengthening the ADC’s presence and influence in the state.
His move comes amid a wave of political realignments in Kano State as key politicians shift alliances and reposition themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
