Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye, wife of RCCG General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed how her decision to fully commit to Christ reshaped her life, even leading her to let go of possessions she once treasured.
In a video circulating widely on X (formerly Twitter), she recounted her love for fashion before becoming born again. At the time, she had already invested in gold and other jewelry for herself and her young child, who was under two years old.
“Every woman loves fashion. I had already made a set of gold and all kinds of things for my child and myself before we became born again. But in Redeemed Christian Church of God, it was taboo to have earrings. So everything, I dropped it in the lagoon,” she said.
Folu admitted that giving up the jewelry was difficult, especially considering the amount she had spent, but she was determined to live according to her new faith.
She also recalled that a family friend suggested giving the pieces to her mother to sell, given their value.
“I said, whatever is not good for me, it’s not good for my mother. Only God knows how much I spent on jewellery,” she said, underlining the depth of her commitment and sacrifice.
