Popular Fuji icon Saheed Osupa has triggered widespread reactions after candidly speaking about his reliance on traditional spiritual practices, popularly known as “juju,” in shaping his success.

The comment surfaced in a video that quickly gained traction online, capturing a moment from his performance at the 62nd birthday celebration of veteran Nollywood actor Fatai Odua, also known as Lalude, on March 30, 2026.

During the event, Osupa paused to address his backup singers, who seemed to be missing cues, and jokingly advised them to seek spiritual help to enhance their delivery and memory.

He then shared that he had previously been urged to publicly deny being involved in such practices, but he refused to do so.

“Somebody told me one time to grant an interview, denying that I’m a fetish person, but I told him that I am, and why should I deny it. I didn’t kill anyone with my juju or commit evil with it. I am only looking for how to progress. Nothing more,” he said.

According to him, honoring Ifa remains a personal spiritual routine.

Osupa also humorously dismissed other supposed paths to success.

“If I don’t engage in voodoo, what else should I have employed. Is it Phensic or Panadol that will make me successful? It is not good to be poor and still not live a good life. Even if one is not enormously rich but should enjoy comfort,” he said.

He further claimed that such practices are more common than people admit, noting that many individuals simply keep theirs private.

“Everybody practises voodoo. While some hide behind the scenes to do theirs, I do mine in the open. All those talks of mine that I rely solely on the Bible and the Quran are pure lies,” he added.
