Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, a prominent leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has accused Nafiu Bala, the party’s factional chairman, of acting against democratic principles.

In an interview with DCL Hausa on Tuesday, Kwankwaso said he had invited Bala to a meeting aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis within the party, but Bala failed to attend.

“We had scheduled to meet yesterday, but despite waiting until morning, he did not show up. I had been warned he wouldn’t come, and his absence is truly disappointing. I want to share my message with you now so that if you meet him, you can deliver it on my behalf,” Kwankwaso said.

Describing Bala’s conduct as harmful to both the party and Nigeria’s democracy, Kwankwaso added, “In our current national situation, our party and our democracy do not need someone acting like the lizard at the mouth of the water pot. As a leader of this movement, I expected him to honor the invitation so I could advise him as a father would a son.”

He noted Bala’s youth, born in 1990, stressing the importance of guidance. “His actions are detrimental not only to his own future but also to the ADC and the democratic process in Nigeria. Millions of people have registered; a party that was once small has grown because prominent leaders joined with a mission to do what is right for the country. If he continues to stand in the way of that progress, it will become a very serious problem for him.”

Kwankwaso also called on the Emir of Gombe, other traditional rulers, and Ulamas to intervene. “This is a serious matter, and he must recognize his mistakes so we can resolve it. I offer this advice freely because it is for the benefit of everyone involved,” he said.
