Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has officially switched political allegiance, joining the African Democratic Congress as preparations begin to gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.

The former NNPP presidential flagbearer completed his registration on Monday at Kwankwasiyya House in Kano, where he was handed his membership card in the presence of party leaders and supporters.

Top figures within the party attended the event, including national chairman David Mark, alongside Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, Dino Melaye, and John Odigie-Oyegun, reflecting the growing political weight behind the ADC.

Kwankwaso’s defection comes on the heels of his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, the platform that powered his 2023 presidential bid.

“I wish to formally announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with immediate effect.”

“I seize this opportunity to express my profound gratitude for the honour and privilege of serving as the party’s national leader and its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections.”
