The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns by two weeks, moving it from March 31 to April 14, 2026.
LIRS Executive Chairman, Dr Ayodele Subair, announced the extension in a statement signed by the agency’s Head of Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, explaining that it is aimed at giving taxpayers more time to prepare and submit accurate returns.
He stressed that the extension should not be seen as an opportunity for delay, emphasizing that timely tax compliance should be a regular habit.
Dr Subair also reminded filers that manual submissions have been fully phased out and that the LIRS eTax platform remains the only approved channel for submitting returns. He described the portal, accessible at https://etax.lirs.net, as secure, user-friendly, and available 24/7, urging taxpayers to ensure their Tax Identification Number (TIN) is correctly entered before submission.
“Individuals must prioritise timely filing of their annual income tax returns, making compliance a routine personal practice,” he said, reiterating the importance of using the eTax system exclusively for all filings.
