Manchester City secured Carabao Cup glory with a 2-0 victory over Arsenal, as Nico O’Reilly struck twice to shatter the Gunners’ quadruple ambitions.
The full-back proved decisive after the break, scoring two quick-fire headers within four minutes to hand Pep Guardiola a record fifth Carabao Cup title.
Arsenal’s decision to start Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of David Raya backfired for the opener, as the goalkeeper failed to deal with a cross from Rayan Cherki, allowing the ball to slip through his hands for O’Reilly to head into an empty net.
Things quickly worsened for Arsenal when O’Reilly nodded in his second goal moments later, this time meeting a delivery from Matheus Nunes.
Despite efforts to respond, Arsenal were denied by the woodwork twice, with Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Jesus both coming close.
Manchester City, however, managed the closing stages with composure, sealing the win and ending Arsenal’s hopes of a historic four-trophy haul.
