A matchmaker has sparked online reactions after calling out a situation involving a 42-year-old woman whose marriage plans reportedly collapsed over a disagreement tied to an alleged ₦12 million bride price demand.
He claimed he had successfully introduced the woman to a man who was willing to marry her, but the arrangement later ran into trouble during traditional marriage discussions.
According to him, the process broke down when the woman’s family presented what he described as an unusually high bride price list, which the prospective groom found unacceptable.
He said:
“You’re 42 years old, and I managed to get you a man. He asked for bride price, and your parents are bringing almost ₦12 million plus as bride price list. Forty-two years old, no children, never been married, and you have mind to be asking for such amount as bride price.”
He suggested that the demand may have caused the man to withdraw from the relationship, alleging that communication between them stopped shortly after the negotiations.
The matchmaker added that the woman later complained the man had blocked her and was no longer taking her calls.
“Now you’re telling me that you’ve been calling him, he’s not picking your calls and has blocked you. I know what I went through before connecting you with that man.
Forty-two years old oo. Now it’s clear that your village people are the ones doing you,” he said.
