The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has rolled out a large-scale security operation ahead of the Easter festivities, deploying over 57,000 personnel across the country to ensure public safety.
Details of the operation were disclosed by the corps’ spokesperson, ACC Afolabi Babawale, who explained that the move is designed to prevent any security lapses during the busy holiday season. Security presence will be heightened at churches, parks, shopping centres, and recreational venues nationwide.
The initiative, approved by Commandant-General Ahmed Abubakar Audi, will be implemented across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with tactical squads and intelligence officers deployed to safeguard critical infrastructure and public spaces.
Field commanders have been instructed to enforce strict security measures in their respective zones, especially in crowded and high-risk areas, combining routine patrols with undercover surveillance to deter threats.
Audi highlighted the importance of coordination among security agencies, stressing that timely intelligence sharing and quick response strategies are key to maintaining order.
Our goal is to ensure a seamless and secure Easter celebration for all Nigerians. We are working closely with other security agencies to maintain law and order, and we urge citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives.
