Actress and filmmaker Debbie Shokoya has firmly debunked rumours linking her to Fuji star Abass Akande Obesere as his daughter.
The speculation, which gained traction across social media, alleged that the singer was her biological father despite no proof to support the claim.
Reacting in a video posted on her Instagram page, Debbie made it clear she has never met Obesere and never made such statements.
“It is not funny anymore; the news is everywhere. I have never met Obesere before, and you claim I said he’s my biological father? Don’t I look like my father? Am I not my biological father’s replica?”
She described the story as completely false and called out blogs and online commentators for spreading misinformation without proper checks, noting that the situation had exposed her to insults and online attacks.
“Obesere is not my biological father. Please stop spreading fake news! Stop writing or posting things I never said. Some commentators do not even think well enough to know that these things are fake; they start to throw abuses.”
Debbie also urged bloggers and the public to correct the narrative with the same energy used in promoting the false claim.
“I’ve never said or written this, nor did I cry out as they claimed. Bloggers should also post this video the same way they were quick to jump on that misconception.”
