Chieftains and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) staged a peaceful protest in Abuja on Wednesday, denouncing what they claim is partisanship by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The demonstrators marched to INEC’s headquarters in the nation’s capital, calling for impartiality in the electoral process.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who shared updates on his verified social media accounts, described the protest as a patriotic effort to protect democracy and prevent the rise of authoritarian rule.

“Myself and other leaders of the ADC are peacefully protesting against the partisanship of the electoral umpire. Our patriotic stance is aimed at safeguarding our democracy and preventing the enthronement of a dictatorship,” Atiku stated.

The procession included notable figures such as former Anambra State governor Peter Obi; factional ADC national chairman David Mark; national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; factional ADC national secretary Rauf Aregbesola; former SGF Babachir Lawal; Dino Melaye; and former deputy governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.

Activist and electoral reform advocate Peter Randy-Akaah also joined the march, alongside a large turnout of ADC members and supporters, as they voiced their concerns over the conduct of the electoral body.
