Sporting staged a stunning comeback on Tuesday, overturning a three-goal first leg deficit to defeat Bodo Glimt in extra time and secure a place in the Champions League quarter-finals in Portugal.

After trailing 3-0 from the opening leg, Sporting started the match on the front foot. Goncalo Inacio’s first-half header brought the aggregate score to 3-1, giving the hosts a lifeline.

The momentum continued as Luis Suarez set up Pedro Goncalves, who fired into the top corner to bring Sporting within one goal of leveling the tie. The equalizer on aggregate came from the penalty spot following a handball by Fredrik Bjorkan, with Suarez calmly converting to cap a relentless surge.

Despite hitting the post through Nuno Santos, Sporting could not find a winner in regulation, sending the match into extra time. Early in extra time, Maxi Araujo put Sporting ahead on aggregate, and Rafael Nel sealed the dramatic turnaround with a late goal to confirm their progression.

Bodo Glimt, making their Champions League knockout debut, had arrived in Portugal in a strong position after their first-leg victory. The Norwegian side had already made headlines by defeating Inter Milan in the playoffs, becoming the first team from Norway to reach this stage of the competition.
