The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has confirmed that Eid-El-Fitr will be observed on Friday, March 20, 2026, after the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted in Nigeria.
The announcement, made on Wednesday evening, marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting, which Muslims around the world celebrate with prayers and feasting.
This declaration is in line with Saudi Arabian authorities, who also confirmed on Wednesday that the crescent moon marking the start of Shawwal was not visible, setting Friday as the official day for Eid-El-Fitr.
