The Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has affirmed that the party will not favour any candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections, stating that all positions are open for contest.
Speaking on Thursday in Lagos after the successful conclusion of the party’s National Convention, which elected officials across its various organs, Ojelabi said the party’s focus has now shifted to the candidate selection process.
He stressed that no aspirant would be imposed on members, urging interested party members to participate according to the law.
“Now that the convention is over, our main focus is the process of electing the candidates who will fly our party’s flag in the next election. I wish to state categorically that all the available positions are open for contest, as the party has no anointed candidate for any seat. We encourage all members who wish to contest to do so in accordance with the law,” Ojelabi said.
The chairman added that the exercise will follow the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and comply with the 2026 Electoral Act and other relevant electoral regulations.
He also revealed that APC plans to use direct primaries as the primary method for selecting candidates, while still allowing consensus arrangements where applicable.
