President Donald Trump has intensified rhetoric against Iran, warning that the United States has the capacity to devastate the country within a single night as tensions between both sides deepen.
Speaking at a White House briefing, Trump indicated that military action could come swiftly, suggesting it might happen as soon as the next day. His comments were made ahead of a Tuesday 8 p.m. ET deadline tied to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil passage.
The president blamed Iran’s refusal to restore access to the route, noting that negotiations had stalled despite a proposal from Tehran, which he dismissed as inadequate. He made it clear that unless a deal meeting U.S. expectations is reached, American forces are ready to act immediately.
Trump had earlier warned that key infrastructure, including bridges and power systems, could be targeted if Iran fails to comply. He added that U.S. forces could disable such facilities within hours, though he stressed that Washington would prefer to avoid that scenario.
He also reiterated his stance that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons, maintaining that the United States would prevent that outcome by all means necessary.
